CCTV News:One of the 150 major water conservancy projects deployed and implemented in the State Council — — Guangxi water resources allocation project around Beibu Gulf started construction in Nanning, Beihai, Qinzhou and Yulin in Guangxi today (September 8).
The water resources allocation project in Guangxi around Beibu Gulf takes Yujiang River as the core water source, which mainly connects 12 rivers and 15 reservoirs in Guangxi through 6 water trunk lines, forming a water network pattern with internal connection and external adjustment and regional mutual assistance, supplying water to urban and rural life and industry in key cities such as Nanning, Beihai, Qinzhou and Yulin, and creating conditions for improving agricultural irrigation and water ecological environment.
The total length of the water conveyance line is 492 kilometers, the total construction period is 72 months, and the total investment is about 28 billion yuan.
Deng Changqiu, Director of Guangxi Water Resources Department:This project is the largest water resources allocation project in Guangxi, which has the longest route, the widest benefit and the largest population, and can supply water for 4 cities, 21 counties and 36 industrial parks. The annual water supply is 805 million cubic meters, including 400 million cubic meters of domestic water supply, benefiting nearly 14 million people, which provides a strong guarantee for our economic and social development in Guangxi.
After the project is completed, it can restore and improve the irrigation area of 1.3 million mu, increase the grain production capacity of over 200,000 tons, and boost rural revitalization. At the same time, in terms of ecological benefits, the project can refund 154 million cubic meters of ecological water consumption of major rivers such as Nanliujiang and Qinjiang, and reduce 199 million cubic meters of groundwater exploitation such as Beihai, and vigorously improve the ecological environment of rivers, lakes and urban and rural areas.
The water resources allocation project around Beibu Gulf is the backbone project of national water network, which consists of Guangxi and Guangdong, and is promoted by the two provinces respectively. Guangdong water resources allocation project around Beibu Gulf started in August 2022.
Chen Jun, Director of Planning Division, Pearl River Water Resources Commission, Ministry of Water Resources:In the long run, on the premise of giving priority to water conservation, the combined use of the northern Guangdong and Guangxi projects with local water resources projects can solve the mismatch between the water resources carrying capacity and the economic and social development layout in the Beibu Gulf region, and effectively support the high-quality economic and social development in the Beibu Gulf region.
